INTENDED USE
The Chemtrue® One-Step Alpha Fetoprotein(AFP) Test is a rapid test for the visual, semi-quantitative detection of Alpha Fetoprotein(AFP)in human serum, plasma or whole blood. This test is intended as an aid in the diagnosis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma. The test is recommended for professional use.
SUMMARY
Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 70,000 D. It is produced by the fetal yolk sac and proximal structures of the liver. Generally most of the healthy adults have AFP levels less than 10ng/ml. The clinical value of AFP as a tumor marker became increasingly apparent. Concentrations of AFP in serum increased in 70% patients who have primary hepatocellular carcinoma. And higher level of AFP is associated with testicular teratocarcinomas and other cancers.
The Chemtrue® One-Step AFP Test are specially designed to detect AFP in human serum, plasma or whole blood using immunochemical methods.
